Richard Wheatley produced cast or damper boxes from the 1890. These essential bits of Vintage Fishing Tackle enabled the angler to keep his gut casts damp and in good condition. They were originally made in Black Jappaned tin, and then as aluminium cast boxes. Brass cast boxes, copper cast boxes and chrome cast boxes were also made by Richard Wheatley.
Most of the old cast boxes contained a set of two cast pads to fit the vintage cast box. A number of the boxes had two compartments one for the cast being kept damp and another for the storage of other gut casts.
