Compartment boxes

Richard Wheatley began the making of alloy compartment boxes at the beginning of the 20th century. When they started they had solid alloy lids, then oval windows and finally completely transparent windows either yellow or transparent. Lip is where the two sections meet when opening and closing. Some boxes are marked with a single capital letter reason unknown... so far A B C H L Oand S have been found
